James Island Man Released on Personal Recognizance on DUI and Assault Charges

A James Island man provided personal recognizance bond (PR) on two charges in May of this year has been jailed and released on PR again.

Anthony Dominic Vincelli, age 21, was initially arrested just after midnight on 05/09/2018 on charges of Driving Under the Influence 1st and Possession of Liquor Under 21, with both counts determined for personal recognizance.

Six months later on 11/13/2018, Vincelli was again booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center, this time on a violent offense—Assault and Battery High and Aggravated Nature ($10,000.00)—a violent offense for which he was granted PR by motion of our judiciary.

Mr. Vincelli is of another chapter in a young person being caught up within the disorganization that is our Justice System, and subject to poor intuition with purported decisions such as his, only for his actions to be nullified without reprimand. The current system that seeks to replace that of the Bail Bond Industry is providing nothing teachable for young offenders who need a change of course—before the clock runs out.
